Technology Simplified — Solutions That Work
Email and Video Calls
Send clear email, manage attachments and participate in a video call without exposing private information.
By the end of this lesson, you can…
- Write, address and send a clear email.
- Reply, forward and organise messages appropriately.
- Attach and download files carefully.
- Join a video call and control microphone, camera and chat.
Before you begin
What you need
- A supervised email account.
- A safe practice recipient.
- A non-sensitive practice document for attaching.
Safe practice
Use a practice account and non-sensitive information. Ask the computer owner before changing settings, installing software or sharing files.
Understand and practise the skill
Email is useful because it creates a written record, but messages can be misdirected or imitated. Check the recipient, subject, content and attachment before sending.
Key terms
Recipient
The person or address receiving a message.
Subject
A short line summarising what the email is about.
Attachment
A separate file sent with a message.
Meeting link
A web address used to join an online call.
Follow the demonstration
- Create a message. Enter the practice recipient and a specific subject.
- Write clearly. Use a greeting, short purpose, required action and sign-off.
- Attach safely. Choose the intended practice file and confirm its name before sending.
- Manage the reply. Use Reply for the sender and Reply all only when everyone needs the answer.
- Join a call. Open the trusted meeting link, check name, microphone and camera, then leave correctly.
