🔒 Facebook Security
Lesson 33 teaches you how to secure your Facebook account, protect your Page from hackers, recognise scams, recover an account if something goes wrong, and keep your business and personal information safe.
Lesson Objective
After completing this lesson you will know how to protect your Facebook account, recognise scams before they cause damage, and recover quickly if your account is compromised.
Why Facebook Security Matters
Your Facebook account may contain:
- Your personal information
- Your Facebook Business Page
- Messenger conversations
- Payment information
- Business contacts
- Advertising accounts
- Customer enquiries
- Years of photographs and memories
If someone gains access to your account they may lock you out, send scam messages, delete your Page, or spend money on advertising.
A hacked Facebook account can damage your reputation as well as your business.
Create a Strong Password
- Use at least 14 characters.
- Mix upper and lower case letters.
- Include numbers.
- Include symbols.
- Never use birthdays.
- Never use pet names.
- Never reuse passwords.
- Store passwords in a password manager.
Enable Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)
Two-Factor Authentication requires a second security code after entering your password.
Benefits
- Stops most hackers.
- Protects stolen passwords.
- Warns of suspicious logins.
- Provides much stronger security.
Every Facebook Page administrator should enable Two-Factor Authentication.
Recognising Phishing Scams
Phishing attempts try to trick you into giving away your password.
- “Your Page will be deleted.”
- “Copyright violation.”
- “Verify your account immediately.”
- “Click here to keep your Page.”
- Fake Meta Support messages.

- Emails asking you to login urgently.
Never click links inside suspicious emails or Messenger messages. Instead open Facebook normally through your browser or Facebook App.

Secure Your Facebook Page

- Enable login alerts.
- Check connected apps.
- Monitor Business Manager users.
Login Alerts

- Enable Two-Factor Authentication.
- Review Page administrators.
- Remove suspicious apps.
- Tell trusted administrators.
