Write Your Description

Build a useful first draft in five simple steps.

Introduce the business. State the business name, location or service area, and the type of business you operate.
Describe the main offer. Explain the products or services that matter most to your customers.
Add your difference. Mention experience, specialist knowledge, personal service, quality, convenience or another genuine strength.
Keep it natural. Use short, clear sentences written for people rather than filling the description with repeated search terms.
Check and publish. Proofread the description, confirm it is within 750 characters, then add it to your Business Profile.

How long can the description be?

Google currently limits the business description to 750 characters.

Can I include my website address?

No. Google says the description should not contain URLs or HTML code. Add your website in the dedicated website field instead.

Can I include prices or a special offer?

Avoid promotions, prices and sales information. Use Google Business Profile posts for timely offers when appropriate.

Where do I edit the description?

Sign in to the Google account that manages the profile, find the business on Google Search or Maps, choose Edit profile, and locate the business description field.
