Technology Simplified — Solutions That Work
Everyday ChatGPT
Turn ordinary questions, drafts, notes and ideas into useful conversations by choosing the right task, giving clear context and improving results through thoughtful follow-up prompts.
Welcome to Module 2
Module 1 taught you how to begin safely. Module 2 turns those foundations into practical, repeatable skills for work, study, home and creative projects.
💬 Ask Better Questions
Move beyond one-line requests by adding purpose, audience, context and the type of answer you want.
✍️ Improve Real Writing
Draft, rewrite and adjust tone without losing your facts, intent or personal voice.
🧠 Learn and Explore
Request explanations at the right level, test understanding and use examples to make difficult ideas clearer.
🧭 Turn Ideas into Action
Summarise information, brainstorm possibilities and convert an outcome into an organised plan.
Learning Outcomes
By completing Module 2, you should be able to:
Ask Purposeful Questions
Provide enough context and request an answer suited to your real goal.
Draft and Rewrite
Control audience, tone, length and structure while checking all facts yourself.
Learn Interactively
Request explanations, examples, analogies and questions that reveal gaps.
Summarise Responsibly
Choose an appropriate summary format and compare it with the source material.
Develop Ideas and Plans
Generate options, apply criteria and turn a chosen direction into practical steps.
Refine Through Dialogue
Use follow-up prompts to correct, narrow, expand and improve an answer.
Your Module Progress
Tick a lesson after completing both its reading and practical activity. Progress is stored in this browser when local storage is available.
Module 2 Completion
Seven lessons and the final knowledge check
0 of 8 completed — begin with Lesson 2.1.
Module 2 Lessons
Follow the sequence the first time. Later, return directly to whichever everyday skill you need.
Asking Better Questions
Turn vague questions into purposeful requests using context, boundaries, audience and an appropriate answer format.
Writing and Rewriting
Draft messages and documents, improve existing text and specify tone without inventing facts or surrendering your voice.
Explanations and Learning
Ask for plain-language explanations, worked examples, analogies and short checks that support real understanding.
Summarising Content
Choose key-point, executive, study-note or action-focused summaries and verify them against the original source.
Brainstorming and Developing Ideas
Generate varied options, avoid stopping at the first idea and evaluate possibilities against useful criteria.
Planning and Organising
Convert an outcome into milestones, tasks, priorities, dependencies and a realistic sequence you can review.
Better Follow-Up Conversations
Correct assumptions, request alternatives, change format and refine the useful parts without restarting unnecessarily.
Module 2 Knowledge Check
Apply the everyday workflow to realistic writing, learning, summary, idea and planning scenarios.
The Everyday Conversation Workflow
Use this five-step loop whenever a first answer is not yet useful.
Define
State the practical outcome.
Context
Add only relevant background.
Request
Specify audience, limits and format.
Review
Check facts, omissions and usefulness.
Refine
Follow up with one clear improvement.
A strong conversation is iterative
OpenAI’s prompting guidance recommends being clear and specific, supplying enough context and refining prompts after reviewing the output. You do not need a perfect first prompt—use the conversation to improve the result.

Module Orientation Video
This future video will demonstrate one task moving through the complete everyday conversation workflow.
- Begin with a realistic goal.
- Show an imperfect first response.
- Improve it with focused follow-ups.
- Finish by checking the result.
Module 2 Practical Challenge
Use one real but non-sensitive task to demonstrate the entire everyday workflow.
- Choose a task such as drafting an email, learning a concept, summarising your own notes, generating ideas or organising a small project.
- Write a prompt containing the outcome, relevant context, audience and desired format.
- Review the first response and identify one strength, one omission and one fact to check.
- Use at least three follow-up prompts: clarify, improve and convert the result into an action-ready format.
- Compare the final answer with your original goal and verify important claims.
Evidence of completion: keep the opening prompt, the three follow-ups and a short paragraph explaining how the result improved.
Before You Begin
Prepare one safe task so every lesson produces something useful to you.
Bring These with You
- Your completed Module 1 foundation skills
- A non-sensitive email, note, idea or small plan
- A notebook or ITIAN study planner
- Time to test more than one prompt
Keep Human Judgement Active
- ChatGPT can confidently produce incorrect information.
- Check facts, quotations, sources, dates and calculations.
- Review tone and meaning before sending generated writing.
- Protect private, confidential and copyrighted material.
Official Guidance Used for This Module

- Does ChatGPT tell the truth? — limitations, critical review and verification of important information.
Reviewed 13 July 2026. Product interfaces and available tools may change, but the module’s communication and verification principles remain broadly useful.
Start Lesson 2.1
Begin by turning everyday questions into clear, purposeful requests that make useful answers more likely.
