Prove the Business Is Real
Google may need evidence of the location, equipment, branding, service activity or other real-world business operations.
Prepare the right evidence and complete Google’s verification process so the business can manage its information on Search and Maps.
Prepare to VerifyVerification helps Google confirm that the business exists, is eligible and is being managed by an authorised representative.
Google may need evidence of the location, equipment, branding, service activity or other real-world business operations.
The person completing verification should be authorised to represent and manage the business.
Verification reduces unauthorised changes and helps maintain trustworthy information for customers.
Google selects the methods available for each business. You cannot always choose a preferred option.
Record a continuous video showing the location, business activity and proof that you manage the business.
Show requested evidence to a Google representative during a live call when this option is offered.
Receive a verification code through an eligible business phone number when Google makes the option available.
Receive instructions at an eligible business email address when this method is offered.
Receive a code at the business address in situations where postal verification is available.
Some businesses may be verified through existing Google account or website information.
Correct preparation is especially important when Google requests a video recording or live video call.
Use the Google account linked to the profile and follow the instructions exactly.
A verification video should normally be one continuous recording that proves the business location, operation and management.
Show nearby street signs, surrounding businesses, the building exterior or another feature that confirms the stated location.
Show permanent signage, branded vehicles, tools, stock, equipment, work areas or other evidence appropriate to the business.
Show access to an employee-only area, point-of-sale system, keys, work vehicle or another item only an authorised representative would control.
Keep the profile accurate and avoid actions that make the business difficult to confirm.
Search for an existing profile and request ownership when necessary instead of creating another listing.
Use the business’s genuine real-world name rather than adding services, locations or promotional wording.
Avoid virtual offices, mailboxes or locations where the business does not genuinely operate or meet customers.
Google says verification codes should not be shared, including with people who claim they manage the profile for you.
Changing the name, address, category or other important information may cause Google to require verification again.
Business registration, licences, utility bills and other documents should match the profile’s genuine name and address.
Use one of the methods Google displays. Available methods are selected automatically and can vary by business.
Open the Review issues message, identify what evidence was missing and record a new continuous video that clearly shows the required location, business and management evidence.
Google may not have completed verification or may require the business to verify again after important changes. Follow the current instructions shown in the profile.
Confirm that the address is accurate, wait for the stated delivery period and avoid requesting repeated codes unnecessarily. Use another offered method if Google provides one.
Use Google’s Request Access process. Do not create a duplicate profile for the same business.
