📊 Facebook Insights

Lesson 38: Learn how to understand Facebook Page performance, post reach, engagement, followers, audience behaviour, and website traffic results.

Lesson Objective

By the end of this lesson, you will understand what Facebook Insights are, where to find them, and how to use the numbers to improve your posts, advertising, website traffic, and Page growth.

What Are Facebook Insights?

Facebook Insights are the performance statistics for your Facebook Page and content. They help you see what people are doing with your posts, videos, Reels, Stories, ads, and Page.

Insights help answer one important question: is your Facebook activity working?

ITIAN Tip:
Do not guess what is working. Check the numbers. Insights show which posts people actually respond to.

Where to Find Insights

  1. Open Facebook.
  2. Go to your Facebook Page.
  3. Open Professional Dashboard or Meta Business Suite.
  4. Look for Insights, Results, or Performance.
  5. Review Page, content, audience, and advertising results.

Important Insight Terms

  • Reach: how many people saw your content.
  • Engagement: reactions, comments, shares, saves, and clicks.
  • Followers: people who choose to follow your Page.
  • Page visits: people who opened your Facebook Page.
  • Link clicks: people who clicked a website or external link.
  • Video views: how many times videos were viewed.
  • Audience: information about the people engaging with your Page.
Important:
Reach is not the same as success. A post can reach many people but still produce no comments, clicks, messages, sales, or website visits.

What to Check Weekly

  • Which post reached the most people?
  • Which post received the most comments?
  • Which post brought website clicks?
  • Did followers increase?
  • Did anyone message the Page?
  • Did any post lead to booklet, print, or tutorial interest?
  • Which content should be repeated or improved?

Good Signs

  • People click through to your website.
  • People comment with genuine interest.
  • People share local or helpful posts.
  • Followers increase steadily.
  • Messages lead to real enquiries.
  • Facebook traffic appears in Google Analytics or Site Kit.

Warning Signs

  • Posts get views but no useful action.
  • People do not click the website link.
  • Followers are not increasing.
  • Posts are too random or inconsistent.
  • People seem confused by the message.
  • Paid ads cost money but create no useful result.

Example: Website Launch Insight Review

Post: ITIAN Knowledge Hub website launch
Reach: 1,200 people
Engagement: 42 reactions, 12 comments, 8 shares
Link clicks: 55 website visits

Result: This post performed well because it created both engagement and website traffic.

Example: Booklet Post Insight Review

Post: Hokianga booklet availability
Reach: 800 people
Messages: 6 enquiries
Sales: 2 confirmed sales

Result: This post was useful because it created real customer action, not just views.
Website Tracking Tip:
If a Facebook post links to itianknowledge.com, compare Facebook Insights with Google Analytics or Site Kit. Facebook shows clicks; Analytics shows what visitors did after arriving.

Using Insights to Improve Posts

  • Repeat topics that get useful engagement.
  • Improve posts that get reach but no clicks.
  • Use stronger images if people scroll past.
  • Ask clearer questions if comments are low.
  • Use better calls to action if clicks are low.
  • Post more of what your audience clearly values.

Common Beginner Mistakes

  • Only looking at likes.
  • Ignoring link clicks.
  • Not checking Messenger enquiries.
  • Not comparing Facebook data with website analytics.
  • Changing strategy without looking at results.
  • Assuming one poor post means the Page is failing.

Practical Exercise

Review your Facebook Page Insights and write down:

  • Your top post this week.
  • Your most commented post.
  • Your most shared post.
  • Your best website-click post.
  • One post that did not work well.
  • One improvement to try next week.
