  1. Determine register base, length, type and access permissions.
  2. Test known positive, negative and fractional values.
  3. Try alternate byte/word order only with documented evidence.
  4. Expose communication quality, stale-data age and error counters to operators.

  • What should be happening, and what evidence proves it?
  • Where is the last known correct signal, voltage, state or process condition?

  • Can the system be divided into smaller testable sections?
