Industrial Electrical & SCADA Practical Projects

Ten structured projects that integrate electrical, PLC, instrumentation, networking, telemetry and SCADA skills.

1. Motor starter commissioning

Develop drawings and a commissioning sheet for a DOL or reversing starter, including overload and interlock tests.

2. VSD pressure-control system

Configure a VSD and simulated pressure transmitter for PID control, sleep/wake and fault handling.

3. Duty/standby pump station

Program duty rotation, automatic changeover, low-level trip, failed-to-start alarm and runtime balancing.

4. PLC reusable equipment objects

Build reusable motor, valve and analogue-input blocks with commands, status, alarms and maintenance modes.

5. Modbus device integration

Integrate a Modbus RTU or TCP device, document the register map and expose communications quality.

6. DNP3 remote outstation

Configure event classes, deadbands, time synchronisation, quality and select-before-operate controls.

7. Wonderware SCADA application

Create overview, detail, alarm and trend screens for the pump station using consistent symbols and permissions.

8. Industrial network commissioning

Produce an IP plan, VLAN design, switch configuration backup and network acceptance-test report.

9. Fault reconstruction exercise

Use alarms, trends, PLC events and packet capture to produce a timeline and root-cause report.

10. Final capstone

Deliver the complete integrated pump-station design, software, test evidence, backups and operator handover pack.
