Lesson 3 of 5

Connect Through a Mobile Hotspot

A mobile hotspot turns your phone into a small Wi-Fi router and shares its mobile data with the television.

On an Android or Samsung phone

Open Settings.
Tap Connections or Network & Internet.
Tap Mobile Hotspot and Tethering or Hotspot & tethering.
Open Mobile Hotspot. Note the hotspot name and password.
Switch the hotspot On.

On an iPhone

Open Settings.
Tap Personal Hotspot.
Turn on Allow Others to Join.
Note the displayed Wi-Fi password.
Keep this screen open while connecting if the hotspot is difficult for the TV to find.

Connect the television

On the TV, open Settings → Network → Wi-Fi.
Select the phone hotspot name.
Enter the hotspot password.
Select Connect, then test Netflix or YouTube.
Important: Hotspot streaming uses mobile data and battery power. Keep the phone connected to a charger, check the data allowance, and turn the hotspot off when finished.
Ian’s Field Note: Place the phone where it receives a strong mobile signal, often near a window, but not in direct hot sunlight.
